Here's what's going to happen:
This shore trip has been planned specifically for guests of the cruise ships. Flexible pick-up times according to the arrival / departure time of ships and rich in content. Pick-up and drop-off at the pier or any other place in Lisbon included.
This is a light extended half-day tour and shows us some of the most important parts of Lisbon. We will visit the Jeronimos Monastery, one of the most significant buildings in Portugal and will learn a lot about this world capital.
The breathtaking view from the Statue of Christ is a highlight.
This extended half-day tour allows you to discover Lisbon, capital of Portugal, colonized by many civilizations along the centuries: Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Moors and finally the Portuguese after 1147.
Itinerary:
After a short panoramic tour through some historical quarters of Lisbon, we will visit Alfama, Lisbon's oldest quarter.
But Lisbon has more than just monuments!
Some free-time in the heart of the historical center of Lisbon-Rossio Square- allows you to discover some of the romantic sides of our capital.
We will also drive to the famous Statue of Christ- Cristo Rei- opposite of Lisbon.
From there you can enjoy the magnificent view to Lisbon and the river Tejo. A breathtaking view (You also have the possibility to use the lift to go up to the Statue).
This city is linked with the heroic deeds of the Portuguese maritime exploration, in the 15th and 16th centuries.
This was the Age of Discoveries and the Golden Era of Portugal, transforming Lisbon into the opulent centre of a vast empire. Part of the wealth from these expeditions was used to build magnificent monuments in a unique Portuguese style:
the extravagant Manueline architectural style, best typified in Jerónimos Monastery (closed on Monday).
Some of these monuments can still be seen, especially in the area of Belém. A brief stop at the Belém Tower- world heritage by UNESCO (Torre de Belém), point of departure of some of the Portuguese maritime explorations, such as on the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos), built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the 'death' of Prince Henry the Navigator.
